BEERS & JEERS PLAYER GRADES

The Cult of Hockey Grading System:
10 perfect game,  9 extraordinary,  8 great,  7 good,  6 above average,
5 average,  4 below average,  3 poor,  2 terrible,  1 deserves to be in minors.

#2 JAMES VANDERMEER - (6) Big hits and decent play. On paper he had 2 hits and 2 blocked shots. Much improved lately.

#4 TAYLOR HALL - (8) BEERS He was all over the place. He buzzed all game long. He scores a goal and had several chances to score more. He took 6 shots on goal.

#5 LADISLAV SMID - (0) DNP (Injured)

#6 RYAN WHITNEY - (7) BEERS He was booed every time he touched the puck. Nice effort against the old team. One assist and was +3. He played 26:45.

#10 SHAWN HORCOFF - (7) He feels better now. He picks up an assist and was better on the faceoff dot with 58%.

#13 ANDREW COGLIANO - (6) I thought we was OK. Not the same feisty Cogs that we seen a few games ago, but still decent. He was 3/1 for 75% on faceoffs. Maybe less is better?

#14 JORDAN EBERLE - (6) A good game for Ebs. He made some nice things happen and was looking like he was at home with Hall and Horcoff.

#16 COLIN FRASER - (5) He was OK. Nothing really to talk about.

#22 JF JACQUES - (5) Didn't do a whole lot. I kind of figured with Mac and Storts out that he was going to drop the gloves. He didn't. Despite only playing 5:52, he did have a team high 3 hits. Wouldn't 3 hits in under 6 minutes warrant more ice time? Especially when the Oilers could use some banging of their own?

#26 KURTIS FOSTER - (5) He was OK. A quiet game for Foster.

#27 DUSTIN PENNER - (8) BEERS He looks comfy back on the top line. He had 2 assists and took 3 shots and had 2 hits. He needs to play like this more.

#28 RYAN JONES - (5) He did his thing on the 3rd line. I thought he suited that line. 1 shot and 1 hit.

#33 STEVE MACINTYRE - (0) DNP (Healthy scratch)

#35 NIKOLAI KHABIBULIN - (0) DNP (Injured)

#40 DEVAN DUBNYK - (8) BEERS I thought he was great. He played very composed and was great at rebound control. Nice to see him finally get a win this season. More to come.

#43 JASON STRUDWICK - (0) DNP (scratch)

#45 SHAWN BELLE - (5) I thought he was OK. He had himself an average game.

#46 ZACK STORTINI - (0) DNP (scratch)

#49 THEO PECKHAM - (6) He was hard to play against. He was burned on a delay of game penalty as he shot the puck out the camera hole and not over the glass. That, if intentional, would have been the Bad Timing Penalty of the game as the Ducks scored then and once more to tie it shortly after.

#67 GILBERT BRULE - (6) Brule tries but can't be good enough. He had 3 shots and 2 hits and was +1.

#77 TOM GILBERT - (7) He wasn't terrible. He was awarded the goal on the Corey Perry own goal. He also had an assist to go with the +2 rating. You can add 2 more blocked shots to his total.

#83 ALES HEMSKY - (8) BEERS I couldn't believe that he really did get the message Renney gave him when he was benched a few games ago. He was leading the charge every time he was on the ice. Very impressive with hemsky tonight. He scored and had an assist in this game.

#89 SAM GAGNER - (7) He was the center on the best Oilers line tonight. Gagner scores his 5th of the year and had a solid all around game.  He stunk at faceoffs. 0/7 for 0%. Ouch!

#91 MAGNUS PAAJARVI - (4) He was only on the ice for a team low, 5:33. Along with Jacques, they barely played. He registered no stats.

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

--------------------

THE MEAT AND POTATOES

Game Notes:

- The Oilers were killed right from the get go. It was so sad to see this in the last game of the year. In fact, it didn't get any better. The slaughter continued for a full 60 minutes. The final shot count was 45-31 in favor of the Ducks.

The Good:

- There wasn't much good tonight. Mike Comrie scored his 4th goal in 3 games. That was great to see. I started the question, "Should the Oilers resign Mike Comrie next season?". The response surprised me. We all know why we hated the guy previously, but most people that replied were in favor of bringing Mike back. Not for a lot of money though. He'd need to sign cheap.

- Ryan Whitney played pretty good. He had a goal and an assist and played hard against his old team. I was surprised to hear the Ducks fans boo Whitney. I know I won't boo him. I quite like him.

- For the first time this year, Patrick O'Sullivan was the best on the team in +/- with a +2 rating. What's up with that?

- I also thought that Tom Gilbert again played good.

- Zack Stortini was a dominant with 8 wins 4 losses for 67% on faceoffs. Wow! Kind of a shocking stat.

The Not So Good:

- Jeff Deslauriers ended our who's better conversation from yesterday tonight. Deslauriers is not the guy we choose. WE WANT DUBNYK!

- I'm glad that I don't have to watch the Chorney(-3)/Strudwick(-2) train wreck anymore this year. They were brutal again tonight.

- The Linglet/Pouliot/Jones line was brutal tonight. They were not only on for three goals against, they were part of the problem.

- I can't (well, I can) believe that the Oilers crap in the bed in the last game of the year. Was this a telling tale for the fate of the two goalies? Was this a last glimpse of Moreau, Pisani and Souray (I know he wasn't playing)?

The Side Dish:

- The Falcons played tonight and were the opposite of the Oilers. Yes, they won their game. Here is the recap.

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

--------------------

THE MEAT AND POTATOES

The Good:

- Jeff Deslauriers was good. He made some big saves (37 in total) and gave the Oilers hope when the game was looking bleak. He played hard and the team didn't give him much help once the Ducks got going in the 3rd.

- Gilbert Brule played himself a good game. He was everywhere and tried to make an impact on every shift he was out. He had 5 shots on goal and scored with one of them. He's definitely a bright spot on next years team.

- Ryan Whitney was hungry to show the Ducks what they gave up on. I think with his 2 assists and 27:08 in ice time, he did just that. He even got into it with Troy Bodie (a former Oiler prospect) and showed a lot of piss and vinegar. I am really liking the cut of his jib.

- Instead of hating him, I liked Marc Pouliot tonight.

- I liked the passion from Dean Arsene. His rough treatment on Bobby Ryan and then the mercy fight with Mike Brown (he was killed in that fight), was good to see from an Oiler defenceman.

- I thought Mike Comrie had a good game. He didn't score, but he made some great plays and had 4 shots.

- Tom Gilbert never ceases to amaze me lately. He played 25:17 and didn't make a lot of mistakes. He also picked up an assist.

- Patrick O'Sullivan was back in the lineup. He was pretty solid and it looked like his finger didn't hurt him that much.

The Not So Good:

- I miss Visnovsky.

- I don't know how many times Kevin Quinn said "601" in reference to Teemu Selanne being at 600 goals, but it got old real quick.

- Once again the 2009/10 Edmonton Oilers team blows a game in the 3rd period. Even with endless Power Plays, they were out-skilled and outplayed by the Ducks. The 3rd period started as a 1-1 tie game and it got going at the 10 minute mark, for the Ducks. Then with two minutes left they turn it on and get some real good chances or a goal like tonight. It's this aspect of the Oilers game that I really hope they change for next season. I really do not like it.

- And to top it off, the game was boring for the first 50 minutes.

- TheCaptainEthanMoreau had 3 giveaways and had enough ice time that he should have accomplished more than he did. How is this guy NOT in Springfield with the Falcons? Seriously.

The Side Dish:

- The Springfield Falcons lost to the Lowell Devils 4-3 in the shootout. Jordan Eberle picked up an assist and scored a goal in the shootout during the loss. Eberle has at least one point in every game he's played with the Falcons so far this year.

- The Stockton Thunder also played tonight. Recap soon.

B&J #116 - Edmonton Oilers Recap vs Chicago Blackhawks (3/3/10)

There was a game on tonight. The Oilers lost to the Hawks 5-2. The Oilers did a good job for the first half, but the sleeping Hawks woke up and laid a beating on the AHL Oilers. Dubynk was hammered for 47 shots, while the Oilers fired off a paltry 14. I'm sure that just summed up the game for you. Sorry, it's hard to care.

But all this trade shenanigans that went down today (and yesterday) really disappointed me.

I don't know about you guys, but I was stunned when Grebeshkov was traded, but I kept telling myself it's for something bigger. Fair enough right? A 2nd round pick is pretty good. You can hopefully pick a solid kid that will be a good NHL'er someday. But the Grebeshkov deal did release some much needed cap relief. Again, cool with that.

Then we traded Cody Wild to the Boston Bruins for Matt Marquardt. I guess that was a farm team addition for down the road. Whatever. I don't care about this deal.

Once the action started to heat up this morning, I was fired up. What will Tambo do today? Who's the "big fish" the Oilers are going to snag this year? So every 15 minutes I would sneak away and check my Twitter on my phone.

Let me just say that I was quite entertained today. Everyone and their dog was trying to be first in announcing the trades. Nobody really did "break" anything other than Darren Dreger and Bob MacKenzie. Everyone else were chasers. Quick fingers will get you second, but not first. That takes connections.

Back to the trades. Once I heard that the Oilers snagged Ryan Jones from the Nashville Predators off of waivers, I was even more intrigued by Tambellini's master plan. THANK GOD HE HAS A PLAN!

I like Ryan Jones. He's going to fit in good and I'm sure the Oilers plan to keep him long term or at least the rest of the year. He has one more year left on his contract and it's a $0.975 million cap hit. Not expensive. He's 25 years old and has the same size as Ryan Stone. I'm sure Jonsey will be a fan favorite.

In between the Souray to the Devils and the Moreau to the Leafs "deals" that were floating around, I started to mind wander. Who's the new Oiler going to be? What's he going to be like? *rubs hands and laughs*

For awhile there, I thought the Oilers were going to get Peter Mueller or Wojtek Wolski. I even heard that the Oilers were in on Horton and Dubinsky. Then I heard Tom Gilbert was on his way to any team that needed a defenseman. The Twitter World was a crazy messed up place for a two hour span.

Then, as the deadline passes, my excitement turns to anger. Tambo did nothing?!? What the hell? Just as I was giving up hope, I see this: Oilers trade Visnovsky to the Ducks.

What? For who? I'm freaking out. The next tweet rolls by and I see the name Ryan. My heart started racing. WE GOT BOBBY RYAN!

Oh... *sigh* Ryan Whitney.

The trade was Lubomir Visnovsky for Ryan Whitney and the Ducks 6th round pick in 2010. The Oilers save $1.6 million on the cap hit and gain a low draft pick, but lose another puck moving defenseman. This to me, was the confusing part. Grebs and now Lubo? Who's going to get the puck out of our own zone?

So as I am thinking about how this trade must have something positive for me to hang my hat on, another Oiler tweet appears. The Oilers trade Steve Staios to the Flames.

WHAT!?! THE FLAMES?!? WHAT?!? THE FLAMES?!?

It being Steve Staios wasn't shocking to me at all. It was the trade partner. Never before in the history of the Oilers organization has there ever been a trade between the Flames and the Oilers. SHOCKING!?!

So the trade officially was, Steve Staios to the Flames for defenseman Aaron Johnson and the Flames 3rd round pick in either 2010 or 2011. It's the Flames choice what year the Oilers get the pick.

Well there must be one more deal in the line right? Right?

Nope. That's it. The deals are over. *sigh* I'm sad.

After the dust settled, I read something that David Staples said. He says that Tambo doesn't have a plan. He's right. I thought by now Tambo would. But it's quite clear he doesn't.

So now it's 10:00 pm and I still don't feel any better about this hockey club. Ethan Moreau and Patrick O'Sullivan are still here. He failed to get a pick, any pick for Mike Comrie. He failed on a lot of levels today. Steve Tambellini does not give me any hope for the future.

I need hope. Life is built on it.

Nick Boynton - Is This a Guy For The Oilers?

Thanks to my main man Todd for posting the news right here at Oilers Jambalaya.

Nick Boynton is an interesting guy to look at from an Oilers stand point. Now that we know that Souray is out for a long period of time, does claiming Boynton fill the gap? He might. Let's take a look and see if he fits the bill.

He' listed as 6'1" and 218 lbs. OK, he's not a little guy. Check.

He's 31 years old and is old enough and experienced enough to step in help the Oilers while not relying on a rookie. Check.

Is he a UFA at seasons end? Yes. Check.

Is he physical and tough? Yes. Check.

So far he looks good doesn't he? But what could be so special about a guy who is being sent down? He must suck right?

No, he doesn't completely suck. His biggest drawback is his $1.5 million dollar contact. That's pretty steep for a 5th/6th/7th guy.  However, he did have his best season in 2003-04 with GP81  G6  A24  P30   Not bad, but it's 2010. How much has changed? The biggest thing that I like seeing, he has a career NHL stat of +16. Not too shabby.

So I don't know. What to do?

Do the Oilers actually claim him? I doubt it. This team is full and they are most likely not able to take the guy on. It's too bad. He's (in my opinion) a better option than Strudwick, Chorney or Plante. What would you do?

Daily Rumors and Oilers talk

First off, I would like to wish the Oilers luck tonight against the Hurricanes, it should be a good game. As Oilers fans, do you want to win or lose tonight?

Kotalik

According to CBC's Elliotte Friedman there was a trade in place (Prust and Jokinen for Kotalik and Higgins) but it caved in...more to come.

*Update* - It may still happen but likely after Calgary's game tonight. Via Bob McKenzie

Bruins looking for depth

Also Jimmy Murphy of NESN.com suggests the Bruins are taking a good look at Matt Cullen and former Oiler Ray Whitney.

Kovy to the Kings

Mark Everson of the NY Post is reporting that Atlanta Thrashers GM Don Waddell was at the Kings/Devils game yesterday and suggests Don was scouting players that he would want in return for Ilya Kovalchuk.

Fantasy team of the week

W - Alex Ovechkin (2G, 4A, 6P, 25 shots)
C  - Anze Kopitar (3G, 3A, 6P, 12 shots)
W - Jarome Iginla (3G, 4A, 7P, 13 shots)
D  - Nicklas Lidstrom (3G, 3A, 6P, 8 shots)
D  - Drew Doughty (2G, 2A, 4P, 4 shots)
G  - Jon Quick (4W, 8GA, 111SV, 0 SO)

Habs suffer big blow

According to Bob McKenzie of TSN Canadiens Forward Mike Cammalleri will be out 6 to 8 weeks with a knee injury.

Ducks place Boynton on waivers

The Anaheim Ducks have placed D Nick Boynton on waivers.

Oilers + News & Rumors **UPDATED**

First off, I would like to congratulate the Oilers on being swept by Calgary Flames... This was the first time a Battle of Alberta season series has been swept by either team. The Oilers suffered yet another big blow (because you haven't suffered enough already) as Sheldon Souray broke his hand in a fight last night with Jarome Iginla. This lowers Souray's chances of being traded.

Jonas Hiller - In other news, the Anaheim Ducks have re-signed Goaltender Jonas Hiller to a 4 year deal earning him 4.5 million per season / 18 million total. This obviously means Anaheim has moved on from Giggy as the starting goaltender. They will have him as a 6 million dollar backup unless somehow they can move his salary.

Leafs - Leafs GM Brian Burke is holding a press conference at 11:30 AM eastern on leafs TV, it will likely be a trade for J.S Giguere from Anaheim. It may not be the only move done today by the Leafs says Darren Dreger of TSN on his twitter " Could be multi-deal, multi-player. Big makeover...if all comes together for Toronto. My blackberry may blow!"

Update - This from Darren Dreger "Something enormous is about to go down. Working on it."

Update # 2 - From Darren Dreger " Phaneuf to the Leafs"

Update # 3 - It seems as leafs will get Giggy, Phaneuf and Sjostrom

Update # 4 - Stajan and White are involved.

To Flames: Stajan, White, Hagman, Mayers

To Leafs: Sjostrom, Phaneuf, Keith Aullie (AHL Defenseman)

Oil Change Underway

Mike Comrie - According to Larry Brooks of the NY Post,  the New York Rangers are more than just one piece away from being Stanley Cup contenders, he suggests the Rangers could use a few players but don't expect Phaneuf or Kovalchuk. Sather needs to let the team play it out. If he wants to make a move, maybe acquiring a Centre like Comrie for a small price would be worth a shot. If this is the case Mike would likely play on line 1 with Marion Gaborik.

Bobby Ryan -  Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com suggests that Ducks GM Bob Murray will not trade Bobby Ryan and is confident they can get him re-signed.

Petr Sykora - The Minnesota Wild sent Petr Sykora down to there farm team however, Petr did not report and both sides have agreed to terminate Petr's contract and let him become a UFA.

UPDATE: The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed Goaltender Jonas Hiller to a 4 year deal worth 18 mil/ 4.5 a season.

As always all comments are welcome.

My Playoff Picks (2nd Round)

Well folks. I did ok with my picks in the 1st round. The only series I was completely correct on was the Hawks/fLames. Either I'm good a guessing or really lucky but the only series I was completely wrong on was the Ducks/Sharks. So much for my pick of SJ in the finals.

According to the pool that I am in, I managed 8 points out of a possible 16. I need to get the amount of games right. On to round two...

Beers and Jeers #53 (Mar 31/09 vs. Anaheim Ducks)

I couldn't write anything last night as I was shocked, disgusted, saddened, sombre, angry, confused and shocked again. WTF?!? For two days the Oilers preached to the fans about being the 7th man. THEY pumped up the game to the fans. We will bring our best our Captain said. Well if that was your best then you guys suck more than I think. Don't promise what you can't back up. Blame MacT all you want. He didn't crap the bed for the first 55 minutes. The players did. Gilbert took a BTP (Bad Timing Penalty) right after the Ducks score to make it 2-1, which then made it 3-1 when CFP scores on the PP. That really took the wind out of the sails. For the fans and the players.

The part that made me feel strange was when the game was over, the kids looked crushed. Heart broken that they lost this game. I felt bad for Cogs and Gags. However... when the camera was tossed on Moreau, Horcoff, Hemsky and Souray leaving the ice they looked like, "oh well." "Who gives a crap". I do. The rest of the Oiler Nation gives a crap. As much as people are ready for MacT to be gone (and I do agree now BTW), I say the same for Moreau as Captain. NNC.

Here is the summary: The Oilers look good in the first 5 minutes. The suck for the rest off the game up until 16:33 of the 3rd period. Then they score 2 quick goals. Yay! But when the luck is starting to run out, MacT tries to pull a rabbit out if his hat. But the rabbit was already dead. Game over.

BEERS

Dustin Penner - I liked how he played last night. He was one of the few that really brought it. He had 6 shots and was a +1. I say you played well enough to deserve a beer. Cheers!
Zack Stortini - He was one of the best Oilers last night. He was hitting guys. He had a good fight with Parros in the 1st. When MacT sent him out near the end, I was going what the hell?!? Just then... Boom! He tips in the puck. GOOOOOOOAALLLL... Awesome. He was wicked cool. That's right. Wicked cool. Enjoy a frosty Storts. Cheers!

Shawn Horcoff - I thought that he was good despite his attitude after the final whistle blew. It's just to bad that that his linemates couldn't match his play. He does need to shoot more. The more you shoot the quicker the slump stops. But for a good game... Have a cold one. Cheers!

Honorable Mentions - Steve Staios (He seemed to be trying hard to help the team win last night. He jumped up in the play a few times and played a simple type game. He just looks really tired.) J.F. Jacques (He played ok. He did was he was supposed to. Good job.)

-----------------

JEERS

Ethan Moreau - The Captain made a statement and didn't follow through. We will bring our best. No you did not. NNC. Boooooooo!

Ales Hemsky - Same for you. Talk is cheap and you did sweet f*ck all. You want to be a leader of this team? You want to get rode like a Red Mile Hooker? Why? You don't show up when needed. Like last night. Boooooooo!

Sheldon Souray - All those hard shots aren't worth a crap if you don't hit the net. Wide open net. Missed. I was expecting a different Souray last night. He also looks tired. Booooooo!

Tom Gilbert - Your stats (3 assists and 5 shots which normaly deserves a frosty beer) may say one thing but taking a BTP is unforgivable. Tough luck... but it's your luck. That sucked Tom. *shakes head* Boooooooo!

Beers and Jeers #51 (Mar 27/09 vs. Anaheim Ducks)

Well folks, last night's game was a gooder. I freaked out a little and cheered a little. And then I freaked out some more. The Ref's were terrible. Most of the calls were penalty worthy, but some were called for no reason. What happened to the good refs?

Roli started once again and it looks like he will until the Oilers secure a spot. In other words, he will play right up to the last game of the season.

Stortini finally draws back in to the lineup after missing eight games. About time MacT. And if anyone really cares... Jacques was also in the lineup.

-----------

1st Period

The game gets going in a hurry. Penner scores right off the hop. Yeah! 1-0 Oilers. (Penner from Horcoff and O'Sullivan at 1:11) Nice start. Holy crap! Pisani scores. Yeah! 2-0 Oilers. (Pisani from Cogliano at 1:48) At this point Giguere gets pulled. For 2 seconds. Then he's back in again. WHAT?!?! Never seen that before (that I can remember anyways). Jacques and Parros decide to drop the gloves. Good quick tilt. Parros wins that one and gives Jacques a tap for a good fight. Damn! Getzlaf scores. 2-1 Oilers. The line of 21, 89 and 83 were on for that goal. Moreau takes a hi-sticking penalty at 8:04, but luckily the Ducks don't score. Marchant and Smid mix it up and they go sit for 2 minutes. With 6:36 left, Gagner coughs up the puck in the Oilers zone but nothing really comes of it. Bad Gagner... Bad. The Oilers as a whole are looking really sloppy with 5 minutes to go. Stortini and Parros decide to go now. Really good tilt as Storts out punches him. Storts with the win. Remind me again why 46 was sitting for 8 games and 85 was playing??? At 18:09, Horcoff takes an interference penalty has to think about it for 2 minutes. Aw man! Staios clears the puck out of the Oilers zone. Problem is, it's over the glass. 5 on 3 for the Ducks now for 1:20. MacT calls a timeout to go over the PK plan. The Oilers do a good job at killing the penalties but as the period winds down, Souray and Perry will start off the 2nd with a penalty each. 15 to 4 were the shots for the Ducks.

2nd Period

15 seconds into the 2nd, Getzlaf scores his 2nd and ties up the game. Damn! 2-2 Tie Game. But one of the Ducks takes a penalty at 1:07 and the Oil go on the PP. Big Dustin Penner scores on the PP. Yeah! Penner's on fire. 3-2 Oilers. (Penner from Gagner and Hemsky at 2:40) Momentum Oilers. Yeah!!! Brodziak scores for the Oilers. 4-2 Oilers. (Brodziak unassisted at 2:49) Stortini was key on that sequence. Well Giguere is pulled again. Poor guy. He was lit up tonight. At 5:17 the Oilers take a too many men penalty. They kill that off. And at 7:16, O'Sullivan sits for 2 minutes for tripping. Then at 8:06 the rough stuff and all the penalties start to happen. Staios, Moreau and Souray were involved. How come the vets never do that for the youngsters? Just asking. Roli gets a penalty and Staios gets one as well. Then a 10:43, Kotalik gets a penalty. But you can't fight this one as he shot it over the glass. Tough luck. He did save the puck from crossing the line though. Better a PK then a auto goal. At 17:48, Getzlaf takes the last penalty of the period. This was a good and intense period. It was nice to see some real emotion. Too many damn penalties though.

3rd Period

MacT sure has been messing with the lines. It is getting kind of hard to figure out what is what. It appears like he is swapping the centers around. 35 seconds into the 3rd the Oilers go on the PP. It would have been nice if they scored but they don't. At 3:25 the Ducks score on the line of 18, 10, and 34. Horcoff was standing there and Moreau was wondering around looking lost. Terrible guys. 4-3 Oilers. The Oilers are feeling the pressure now. At 5:31, Kotalik takes a turn in the sin bin. The call... cross checking. The Oilers do kill that off but the Ducks seem to want to get back in this game. Roli robs Pronger with a huge glove save on the PP. Roli, Roli, Roli!!! What a game. At 9:35, Jacques hi-sticks a guy and gets a double minor. The Ducks get 6 shots on Roli in the 1st two minutes of the PP. Shortly after, Gagner gets nailed and Roli does his patented baseball swing and bats the puck out of the zone. Nice. The game is rockin' and rollin' all the way till the last minute of play. The ducks have pulled the goalie to try and tie the game. But Kotalik puts it in the empty net for the Oilers. Yeah! 5-3 Oilers. (Kotalik from Hemsky and Souray at 19:48) The Oilers WIN!!! The 2 points are in the bag. WOOOOOOOO!!!!

Tonight's Starting Lines

For complete ratings see Oil Droppings. He did a really good job on them. Plus the lines changed throughout the game. Damn you MacT and your fancy blender.

Kotalik Gagner Hemsky
Penner Horcoff O'Sullivan
Moreau Cogliano Pisani
Jacques Brodziak Stortini

Souray Staios
Grebeshkov Gilbert
Strudwick Smid
Roloson

----------------

BEERS

Dwayne Roloson - Roli the goalie was awesome. He made 51 saves for the win. Now do I really have to say anything else? Frosty Roli? How about two? Cheers!

Dustin Penner - The flying fridge was great. He had 2 goals and was a +2. He did his thing out there and had 4 shots and 2 hits. All this and he ony played 12:14. What a heck of a game. Pilsener for the Fridge? Cheers!

Zack Stortini - I really liked his game. He did was he is supposed to and played well. He fought. He caused a screen on the Brodziak goal. And he was hitting people. All this and he only played 4:10. Good job Zack. Glad your back. How about a cold one? Cheers!

Honorable Mentions - Jason Strudwick (He played not bad. He still isn't great but he did what he had to. +1 and 2 shots.), Shawn Horcoff (had a good night on faceoffs. He played a ton and was moved around quite a bit.), Patrick O'Sullivan (I really liked his play. He was on the PK and had some good moments on the offensive side.), Ales Kotalik (I also liked his game as well. I said from his first game as an Oiler that he needs to work on the cardio. I think he has as he played 16:54 and didn't look tired.)

----------------

JEERS

Ethan Moreau - I have no idea what I have against him. I just didn't like the way he played. He just doesn't act like a captian. His fall at the boards all alone was slick and that made me laugh out loud. That's how I must look sometimes. lol. But seriously, he really needs to step up and become more of a leader in order for this team to be successful. We need an action type of a leader. God knows that it isn't Hemsky. So for a lackluster effort at even stength... Boooooooo!

The Entire Team - You guys really need to cut it out with all the penalties. Sure the refs were a little over happy with the whistles but come on. Way to many careless penalties. The elite teams don't take that many penalties in a game. Booooooooo!

----------------

A win. About time. That's all I can say. About time. Next game is at 6:00 pm tommorow against the pesky Wild. Big Mac should draw in for Jacques I would suspect. Let's hope for another 2 points. Go Oilers!!!
