Barons Game 6 Preview; Monsters Crawled Back

Away: Lake Erie Monsters (2-1-1); Last game: 3-2 SO Loss vs. San Antonio
Home: Oklahoma City Barons (2-2-1); Last game: 8-2 Win vs. Houston
Quick News and Notes
-This is the second meeting between the teams. The Barons won the first meeting 4-3 after coming back from a 3-0 deficit.
-Brad Moran is coming off of a 5 point weekend(3G, 2A).
-The Barons are 5 for 31 on the PP, and 23 for 25 on the PK.
-The Barons have killed off their last 18 PK.
-The Monsters are 1 for 17 on the PP, and 21 for 24 on the PK.
-Brad Moran is the Barons leading scorer with 6 points. He is tied for 16th in the league.
Players to watch
OKC: Giroux is coming off of a 2 goal game in Houston. Omark is riding a 2 game goal scoring streak. Moran is coming off of his hat trick from Saturday. McDonald, Petry, Vande Velde, Hartikainen, and Reddox also had a goal in Sunday's game.
LEM: Matthew Ford(23) netted a goal in Lake Erie's game on Sunday. He also had an assist in the game against the Barons on Saturday. He also leads his team in scoring.
This will cap off the Barons 4 games in 5 nights trip. Next weekend is going to be a hectic one as well. Friday night at home against San Antonio, then they fly to Toronto for a game Saturday, and then it's off to Hamilton for their televised game on Sunday. It'll be interesting to see if the Barons can keep the momentum going tonight from their huge win on Sunday. ABOUT CHRIS D'ALVISE:
D'Alvise, 24, is one of nine returning players from last year's Thunder team that made its first ever appearance in the Conference Final.

Already with two assists in three games, The 5-foot-11, 175-pound pivot was named 2009-10 Thunder Rookie of the Year last year to lead the Thunder and rank fourth among ECHL rookies with 34 goals, additionally ranking second on the team with 67 points (34g-33a) in 68 games.

The native of Mississauga, Ontario was named to the National Conference All-Star team last year and also achieved Reebok Hockey ECHL Rookie of the Month honors in March, netting 23 points (11g-12a) in a 15-game stretch.

ABOUT AARON CLARKE:
Named one of four rotating alternate captains, Clarke, 27, comes off a 2009-10 season where he shattered career highs in goals (25), points (57) and assists (32) in 59 ECHL games, additionally ranking third on the Nailers in scoring and goals. Contributing on the penalty kill, his five shorthanded goals, a career-high as well, led the ECHL.

Completing his third year, the 5-foot-9, 185-pound forward racked up 14 assists on the power-play which ranked tied for second on the team.

The Peterborough, Ontario native earned a selection to the American Conference All-Star team in 2009, his first ECHL All-Star berth and scored a goal in the game at Reading. Serving the Nailers as captain, Clarke capped off the year with 37 points (11g-26a) in 40 games for Wheeling and chipped in with three goals and an assist in seven playoff games.

Oklahoma City Barons Win 8-2 In A Dominating Fashion


Holy cow! What a game from the Oklahoma City Barons today. They beat the Houston Aeros 8-2 and it wasn't without some emotion. Everyone was getting into it tonight, including Linus Omark.

PLAYER AND GAME NOTES

- Alex Giroux scored twice.

- Vande Velde, Hartikainen, Petry, McDonald, Omark and Reddox each had a goal.

- Shawn Belle had an amazing 4 assists in this game. Marquardt and Moran each had two assists.

- Liam Reddox had a team high, 7 shots on goal.

- Bryan Pitton won in his first game as an OKC Baron with 29 saves. He also had an assist to go with the win.

- Brad Moran was a team high, +3 on his +/- rating.

- Phillipe Cornet was the only Barons player to not register a stat. No shots, no assists, no goals. Nothing.

- Milan Kytnar was the only Baron player to finish as a minus with -1.

- Linus Omark had a team high, 12 penalty minutes. 10 minutes of it was a game misconduct.

- Barons went 3/8 on the PP and killed off all 9 penalty kills.

- As good of a player as Belle is, he does need to work on his penalty troubles. He had 3 separate infractions. Two for interference and one for closing his hand on the puck when he lost his stick.

- Johan Motin dropped the gloves sticking up for Omark.

- Ben Ondrus is the full time Captain and Shawn Belle and Brad Moran wore the assistant captain A's today.
